How to analyze the quality of forgings
Time:2020-07-31 Click Volume:

The purpose of forging quality analysis is to clarify the problem, find out the cause, and take appropriate measures to produce forgings that meet the requirements of technical standards to meet the requirements of product design and use, and to formulate practical preventive measures to prevent similar defects It happens again, so that the quality of forgings is continuously improved.

Since forgings have to undergo heat treatment after forging, even surface treatment and mechanical processing, and they must be put into use after they are made. Therefore, in addition to quality analysis of forgings after forging, the quality analysis of forgings also includes Analysis of forging quality problems found during heat treatment, surface treatment, cold working and during use. At this time, on forgings or finished products, there may also be quality problems caused by improper subsequent processes after forging, improper use and maintenance, or improper design and material selection, and other influencing factors besides improper forging process Therefore, in the quality analysis of semi-finished parts, finished parts, and used parts, the quality analysis of the forging itself can only be carried out accurately after the factors of design, material selection, heat treatment, surface treatment, cold working and maintenance are eliminated. Find out the causes of forging quality problems and propose improvement measures and preventive measures.

In actual work, it is not very easy to determine what caused the failure of semi-finished, finished or used parts. Relatively speaking, it may be easier to analyze the failure of semi-finished parts or finished parts, but it will take some trouble to analyze the failure or failure reasons of the used parts. When analyzing these faulty parts, you should first understand the use and manufacturing experience of the faulty parts, that is, to understand the design, material selection, cold process, thermal process, force, use and maintenance, including environmental conditions. After a comprehensive understanding of the above conditions, and according to the macro and micro morphological characteristics of the faulty parts, under what circumstances these morphological characteristics appear and whether there are conditions for producing such morphological characteristics, and through material analysis and mechanical performance analysis , Metallographic organization analysis, coupled with some advanced methods such as electron microscope, electron probe, etc., through learning, communication and analysis with professionals in various fields, according to the procedure of failure analysis, the true cause of the failure of the faulty component can be obtained, and the Know whether the cause of the failure is the quality of the forging.

There are many reasons for the quality problems of forgings. Through the macroscopic and microscopic analysis of the forgings, and sometimes the simulation test is also carried out, it can be concluded whether the quality problems are caused by the forging process itself or other influencing factors (such as raw materials, heat treatment, Surface treatment or errors in the test itself, etc.); whether the forging process is formulated unreasonably or imperfectly, or whether the process discipline is not strict and the process is not strictly implemented. These can only be concluded after careful research and analysis.
